Evangelism & Renewal Advocates
GEAR's Evangelism and Renewal Advocates are offered as a resource to the URC. Their aim is to help churches and individuals grow in their understanding and experience of spiritual renewal and effective evangelism. They do this through personal involvement and by drawing on a network of others within the church who are willing to invest time and effort to equip, enthuse, pray and participate in this ministry.
The primary objectives of the ERA post are:
- To develop and model ministry in co-operation with the Holy Spirit in local churches and through GEAR events and conferences.
- To encourage the development of gifted ministry in others.
- To work with the GEAR National Committee.
What types of events ?
Andrew & Sally are available to provide input in anything from a small gathering to large event, for instance:
- Church Weekends Away
- One-day mini conferences
- Evening events - one-off, or as part of a series
- Elders' Meetings or Ministers' Fraternals
- District Councils or Synod gatherings
What topics can be tackled ?
They are available to help with any topics that deal with evangelism and renewal, tackling them at a depth and breadth to suit each local context. This may range from introductory discussions about mission and the Holy Spirit to consideration of spiritual gifts or evangelistic strategies.
What costs are involved ?
None. GEAR has made the Evangelism and Renewal Advocates available as a resource for the church. The ERA's operate as a faith-ministry, funded by voluntary donations to GEAR. Host churches are simply invited to give genuine prayerful consideration to make an appropriate contribution.
